On 19th October, Felix Advisory organized the event Sharing Wisdom in association with HSBC and WeWork. Sharing wisdom was a platform that brought together experienced investors, entrepreneurs, mentors, advisors and experts who discussed the issues faced by start-ups and growth phase companies and key aspects of the business.
The keynote speaker were Avtar Monga, Partner, Stride Ventures; Sunil Goyal, Founder, YourNest VC; Neeraj Bansal, Supplychain Labs by Lumis; Saurabh Chatterjee, VP, ChrysCapital; Anant Goel, Co-founder, MilkBasket; Annu Talreja, Founder, OxfordCaps; Rajesh Batra, CFO, PeopleStrong; Anuj Kanwar, Head Transaction Banking, HSBC; Swetabh Pareek, Partner, Felix Advisory; Amit Jindal, Co-Founder, Felix Advisory; Saurabh Jain, Co-Founder, Felix Advisory and Adamya Sharma, Partner, Felix Advisory.
During the day, conference participants had the opportunity to choose among various sessions to discuss topics and develop recommendations. Each session lasted for 30-45 mins. At the beginning of each session, participants were presented with background information and discussion questions. Every session was followed by brainstorming and information exchange, participants in the sessions reached consensus on two recommendations and discussed related barriers and solutions.
Adamya Sharma, Partner at Felix Advisory commenced the event by addressing key aspects of due diligence, dos and don’ts of diligence, preparation for investor diligence along with covering the importance of starting young, the dos and don’ts of contracts and IPs and emphasized on the role of the key team.
Amit Jindal, Co-Founder of Felix Advisory, elaborated on the importance of tax, regulatory & compliance for growth phase companies covering topics like business structure for tax efficiency, policy benefits for startups and the benefits of compliant organizations.
Swetabh Pareek, Partner at Felix Advisory, presented the third session of the event by delving details of the art of negotiations, highlighting the investor rights and the dos and don’ts of the art. He further distinguished between the implied need and explicit need, its importance and impact on negotiation and highlighted the common major mistakes made in negotiation.
The first panel discussion was on Business scalability and sustainability with Neeraj Bansal, Supplychain Labs by Lumis, Annu Talreja, Founder, OxfordCaps and Anuj Kanwar, Head Transaction Banking, HSBC on the panel, while Adamya Sharma moderated the session. This session covered roles and responsibility of the key stakeholders, the role of investors beyond capital and the role of external partnership with other players in scaling businesses.
The second panel discussion centered around CFO’s role in scaling businesses and had Rajesh Batra, CFO, PeopleStrong; Anant Goel, Co-founder, MilkBasket and Saurabh Jain, Co-Founder, Felix Advisory on the panel. This session was moderated by Deepak Mittal, Partner, Felix Advisory. This session revolved around the KRAs of CFO., the right time to hire an experienced CFO, key learning of CFOs with scaling businesses and key matrix in focus while raisng growth funds.
The last panel discussion of the evening centered around investment in early to growth stage with Avtar Monga, Partner, Stride Ventures; Sunil Goyal, Founder, YourNest VC; Saurabh Chatterjee, VP, ChrysCapital and Anant Goel, Co-founder, MilkBasket, while Swetabh Pareek, Partner, Felix Advisory moderated the session. This discussion as power-packed with VC’s wisdom, entrepreneur’s wisdom and advisor’s wisdom. The discussions touched topics like investment rationale driving different investments, learnings of multiple fundraising and the art of walking on a fine line to create win-win deals.
